The Lost Star

The news of the 54 year old Shree Amma Yanger Ayyapan known popularly by her screen name Sridevi’s demise comes as a shock to all of us.

Seeing her on screen along with Rajinikanth and Kamal Hassan as a kid, admiring her style in Hindi movies, observing her changing nose shape, irrespective of which, still falling for her a bit, seeing her as a wife, to arriving at ebullient events with her daughters in elaborate gowns and dresses. An actor, a producer,a wife, a mom, a Padma Shri awardee, what not! Sridevi was a force to recon with.

The demise of her, that too all of a sudden has left me and almost half of the Indian population in shock. It shows the fragility of this ever changing human life. A butterfly flapping it’s wings in New Mexico can cause a hurricane in China. A person so powerful and strong one day can fall to the ground the next without a warning. The mere absurdity of what can happen in one second can change your lives entirely is what makes life dangerous and exciting at the same time.

This is a black day for the entertainment industry and  the one’s who seek it’s entertainment but the legend of Sridevi will always be carried forward by her works.

RIP Sridevi ma’am.
